There is no official au pair in Greece program, however you can become an au pair in Greece without a resident permit if you are from the EU / EEA / EFTA. They are only required to register with the authorities in Greece. Additional information can be found at: http://www.mfa.gr/en/visas/.

Au Pair in Greece Mandatory Criteria
- To be an au pair in Greece, you must be between 18 and 35 years old
- Non-EU / EEA / EFTA citizens need a resident permit to work as an au pair in Greece, which is very time consuming and difficult to obtain.
- All application documents for the resident permit must be submitted in Greek.
- An au pair in Greece receives 500 euros a month in pocket money. The au pair in Greece can choose to work an additional 5 hours per week and it is paid at 25% higher than their normal wage.
- An au pair in Greece is expected to provide between 35 and 40 hours a week of childcare, light housework and other agreed duties. They are not to exceed 10 hours of work per day.
- An au pair in Greece generally receives one week of paid vacation
- Greek host families generally provide au pairs with one free weekend per month
- TheBestAupair recommends free time and holiday arrangements be clarified with your host family prior to departing your home country and have the arrangements put into your au pair contract
- An au pair in Greece is provided a separate bedroom in the family home, 3 meals per day and have free access to the family home
- The cost of travel and visa is paid by the au pair
- It is recommended that an au pair in Greece speak basic Greek as a minimum
- Attending a language course is not compulsory
- Varies based on visa type and country of origin
- Non EU / EEA / EFTA can stay a maximum of between 3-6 months
- Proof of Travel and Medical insurance is required to obtain the visa (Family members of EU and Swiss citizens are exempt). The minimum coverage must be EUR 30 000.
- This insurance is to be paid by the au pair
- The duties of an au pair in Greece will vary from family to family. Some families will require only childcare, however we have found that most families will require childcare, light housework and other duties
- Please clarify your job duties with your host family and have it put in writing in your contract
- If you are required to drive as an au pair in Greece, you will need a full, valid driver's licence
- TheBestAupair recommends obtaining an international driving permit from your home country if your licence is not valid on its own in Greece
- Discuss with your host family what happens if you have a car accident, who pays, and have your agreements put in the contract
